Rev. William R. Burrows III

William R. Burrows, III passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011 with his family at his side at North Collier Hospital. Bill was born January 23, 1931 in Schenectady, NY. He was a graduate of Williams College followed by two years of military service in the Army. He joined G.E. in 1955 and worked at many various locations in manufacturing management for 21 years. He joined Lord Corporation, Erie, PA, and later became president of Yates Plastics, retiring in 1995 to Naples, FL.

Bill was ordained an Episcopal priest at St. Stephen's, Fairview, PA, in 1993 and volunteered his time for many churches in the Erie and Naples areas. He was on the board of St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, and was a volunteer and on the Bio Ethics Committee at NCH in Naples. In addition he was president of Literacy Volunteers of Collier County. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne (Burnison); daughter, Karen Sandmeyer (Bruce); son, William (Lynda); and grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Chelsea, William V, Dustin; and a brother, Peter (Sherry).

Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff; and a sister, Ann.

A service will be held at Trinity-by-the-Cove in Naples on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

A memorial service and burial will be held in Erie, PA at a later date.
